Our Recreation Ground – ‘the Rec’ – offers open space, children’s play equipment (some suitable for ‘old’ children), adult exercise equipment, a zip-wire, a football goal, tables, benches and covered seating. It is also known as Clarke’s Piece as the land was donated to the village by the Clarke family following the development of Hope Close. You can find it behind Clarkesdale, off the road to Bringhurst. You can also walk along the footpath through Little London off Pitchers Lane.

The Great Easton Recreation Ground Committee looks after the area, with some financial support from the Parish Council. A large pool of enthusiastic volunteers maintain the ‘Rec’ – cutting the grass, trimming hedges, clearing up and maintaining equipment. The group are always keen to welcome new volunteers – email the Committee on info@gerg.org.uk.

The Committee has a vision to further develop the recreation ground into an inclusive, multi-generational, and accessible village resource. It should be a place where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can play, exercise, and relax. The Committee are seeking ideas on the community’s needs for the recreation ground in 2026! They have distributed a new questionnaire to gather your views. Please take 5 minutes to answer the questions when it comes through the door. You can complete it online at:

Great Easton Recreation Ground Development Survey — 2026.

There will also be some focus group meetings to talk through emerging ideas. The survey closes on 30 September 2026. The final plan will be available for everyone to read before making any changes to the Recreation Ground.
